How about some experience for a change?

The last time American voters selected a movement based candidate who promised us "post partisanship" and consensus building instead of experience and a track record of production, George Bush became the 43rd president of the United States.

The last time American voters selected a movement based candidate who promised us "post partisanship" and consensus building instead of experience and a track record of production, George Bush became the 43rd president of the United States.

Like Barack Obama, George Bush downplayed the necessity of experience. After all, you don't need experience when you have gut instinct, or judgment as we're calling it these days. But this entry isn't about George Bush or even about Barack Obama. It's about change versus more of the same. After experiencing the peace and prosperity of the 90's and the war and inequality of the Bush administration I've realized something. inexperienced leadership is what got us the faulty intelligence which lead to war and inexperience created the environment where corporations are running  America. It turns out that inexperienced leadership is the "more of the same" that I'm desperately seeking to change from. So I ask myself and fellow democrats; how about we have some experience for a change?

I'm a young voter. I want hope and I want change. I think every American wants these things, regardless of their demographic. But hope is only a means to an end. You know what I hope for?

- Millions of  Jobs created

  • A strong US economy
  • Peace and prosperity

What does Clinton politics empirically produce?

- Millions of Jobs created

  • A strong US economy
  • Peace and Prosperity

Face it. The status quo is filled with inexperienced candidates who promised us one thing and delivered the exact opposite. Running as the change candidate is more of the same that I don't need. I miss experienced leadership.

Obama is about JUDGMENT (none / 0)

Not "gut instincts."

He has continually shown that he has superior judgment to Clinton. Stop trying to make parallels that you know don't exist. Check the votes. Hillary Clinton is much closer to Boy George than Obama will ever be.

Lastly, are you telling people to vote for Bill or Hillary? I didn't realize Hillary created all those jobs in the 90s.

He has continually shown that he has superior judgment to Clinton.

Like what?

Health care? (15 million people disagree)
Banning Lobbyists? (His national co-chair disagrees)
The war? (EXACT same voting record, minus Obama voting to confirm Gen Casey)

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

Weak argument. If GWB was inexperienced in 2000, so was Bill Clinton in 1992.

Clinton running in 92 on a platform of change and post-partisanship ("third way", anyone?) with no foreign policy or national experience wouldn't pass your test today.

Re: How about some experience for a change? (1.50 / 2)

Bill Clinton had run a state for 12 years. That's executive experience. And 1992 was post-Cold War. Right now, we have a war in Iraq, a war in Afghanistan, and a Global War on Terror.

Little bit different. When Obama says he has the same experience as Bill Clinton, Obama is LYING.

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

Well, 2000 was also post-Cold War, if I remember my history correctly. And wasn't Bush a governor? Of some state? Some gargantuan state? Seems to be that a comparison between Bill Clinton and George W Bush is more apt. Wait a second - no, none of these comparisons are apt. Especially not yours.

I couldn't agree more (none / 0)

How about some experience for a change?  Sounds good to me.

ABO... Anybody but Obama. I LIKE the democratic party.

How about cutting the crap? (2.00 / 1)

Hillary has no more experience than does Barack.

What Americans DO NOT WANT is the Restoration.  We do NOT want 4 more or 8 more years of Clintonism, which brought us NAFTA, impeachment and much other stuff.

We need to get away from that.  BO, JE, whatever - JUST NOT HILLARY.

the experience argument is bogus (none / 0)

And HRC partisans repeating themselves gets annoying.

If HRC is so experienced in politics--including dirty politics--why did she get drubbed in Iowa by the inexperienced Barack Obama?

Rrrinnggg... Time to change the government.

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

If anything, the comparison to Bush proves the opposite. The Bush administration are basically the same people who have been running things through the Nixon, Reagan and Bush 41 administrations. Do you have any idea how long Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld have been pulling the levers of government pre-GWB?

Experience doesn't equal results, at least not good results. Sometimes you need a fresh face, for instance Bill Clinton 1992 or Barack Obama 2008.

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

I guess thats why we need an experienced candidate who won;t get pushed over by his advisor's.

Uh oh, making the case for Clinton on accident?

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

I'm pointing out the idiocy of the Barack Obama = GWB argument that I've seen trotted out a couple times (I'd like to see Hillary incorporate that into a campaign commercial, she'd get laughed off the stage).

Fact is, GWB was hardly a newbie. He was a two term governor of a huge state with a dynastic political family and the "experienced" Repub establishment behind him.

Barack Obama does not equal Bush. But experience is a safer bet than hope

Yeah, experience (none / 0)

Dick Cheney, really really experienced

Don Rumsfeld, wow!!! What a lot of experience.

THe entire Bush team was probably the most experienced team EVER in the White House.

Didn't stop them from fucking up royally.

That's the experience you are looking for?

Re: Yeah, experience (none / 0)

your, and Obama's, point that a person with experience has made a mistake therefore any reference to experience is irrelevant is embarrassingly sophomoric. There are plenty of better arguments for Obama and against Clinton than that.

"Sophomoric" (none / 0)

defines your inane reliance on "experience" whatever that is over basic sense, an ability to bring many new people to the table, and a fresh and new view of the situation.

"Barack Obama does not equal Bush."

Forgive me for thinking you just posted a diary comparing Barack Obama to Bush.

Re: How about some experience for a change? (none / 0)

The answer is NO: people at the present time do not care too much about same old crap experience that Hillary has....  Furthermore most people do not even think Hillary has that much experience.

People dont' vote based on experience. There are many things that go into making a decision to vote. Sometimes you vote for people with less "experience" or you vote for people with different types of experience.

We've had this discussion a dozen times already! I know you are desperate for people to value Hillary's experience but the answer  is no people don't value her experience. I'm sorry.
